Can Frare is a large old Finca, reformed to a luxury standard incorporating all the traditional elements of an authentic Ibizan farmhouse & the modern essentials needed for maximum convenience & comfort.
The house was designed over generations to allow a feeling of intimacy, practicality and luxury in this hot climate – with high wooden beamed ceilings & thick ancient stone white washed walls.
The house was built organically as three wings around a large central living room – which means that all the bedrooms have maximum privacy and peace.
The living room is 6 metres long, with a 5 metres high beamed ceiling – an exquisite place, with an ancient door 4 metres high & plenty of character. When you open the doors, and let the air flow, looking down on your estate & the Bay of San Antonio on a hot Summers day, Can Frare is a rare treat.
All the walls are original, stone built, 3 feet thick, and therefore sound proof, coated in Cal (whitewash made the traditional way from limestone); the hardwood beams high above are sabina and olive, coated in the oil of linseed; all products sourced locally. The floor is a simple, traditional, cement.
There is strong Wi-FI across the whole house; an integrated Sonos Sound system with Bose speakers across the whole house; every room has A/C; we have a well from which one can drink.
The finca has 6 double bedrooms; of which 2 are masterbedrooms; 4 are en suites; 5 bathrooms; 2 bedrooms which share a bathroom.
Can Frare has total internal space of c.400 square metres and can easily host 12 people.
Can Frare sleeps 12.
The communal areas are ideal for large groups – as they are suitably large and impressive. There are 2 indoor living rooms, 4 outdoor seating areas, 2 of which are also dining areas.
The Tower – Master suite with en suite office, outside terrace, bedroom and luxury bathroom. This is the top floor of the tower, with a commanding view over the whole property and the bay of San Antonio.
The Studio – second master suite with en suite living room, terrace, master bedroom and en suite bathroom.
Conejera – named after Conejera Island just off shore from San Antonio, which used to be owned by the Prats family. The picture in the room is ToniĀ“s grandfather off an a weekend of rabbit hunting with his pack of podenco dogs. This is where the chickens used to be kept; there is still a hole in the wall where the eggs were stored! Eggs were once a source of significant income for the small holding famers of Ibiza.
Double room with an en suite
The Bay – A bedroom with bathroom en suite, at the bottom of the Tower. This also used to be a stable.
“Las Tias” – This is actually the oldest part of the house, from which all the other parts were eventually added. More recently it was a room for the female members of the family. A double room, which shares the bathroom (pictured) with one other bedroom.
The “Sanctuary Room” – A double bedroom with a great view. “Las Tias” and the lovingly restored Sanctuary Room share a bathroom
